In the SOUTH FLORIDA SUN-SENTINEL, Ira Winderman writes "Heat coach Pat Riley does not have two weeks to wait, not with his team 26-26 and scrambling for playoff position as it returns from the All-Star break tonight in Houston. So he wants Shaquille O'Neal to push up his timetable. ‘He's got to take the next step forward,' Riley said at Tuesday's practice. But with a .500 record and only 30 games remaining in the regular season, Riley said O'Neal has been pampered enough after his two-month absence following Nov. 19 knee surgery.”
