Warm winter fuels rise in Afghan border violence

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Violence has risen sharply this year along Afghanistan's eastern border with Pakistan, where a warm winter is allowing militants freer movement through mountain passes, a U.S. Army officer said on Friday.
