In the OREGONIAN, Jason Quick writes "one of Europe's biggest basketball stars, Fernandez will get that chance regularly as a member of the Trail Blazers. Months after signing with the team, Fernandez was greeted by cheering fans Monday when he landed at Portland International Airport after resting in Spain following his team's silver-medal finish in Beijing. Blazers management treated his arrival with excitement and reverence similar to that given 2007 No. 1 draft pick Greg Oden. General manager Kevin Pritchard said, "We expect big things out of him. . . . We feel like he is immediate help," and coach Nate McMillan said the 6-foot-5 shooting guard is "a special player.""
