No playoffs for defending champ Phoenix

Deanna Nolan scored 18 points to help the Detroit Shock beat the defending champion Phoenix Mercury 89-78 Tuesday in a rematch of last year's WNBA Finals. The loss eliminated Phoenix from playoff contention. No reigning champ had ever missed the playoffs in WNBA history.
