In the CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, Brian Hanley writes "Vinny Del Negro deftly refused to declare which player the Bulls should take with the No. 1 pick in Thursday's draft. The Bulls' brain trust has spent plenty of time watching video of both prospects, before and after each had a two-day visit to the Berto Center last week.'Both great talents and great kids,'Del Negro said.'They both bring different things to the team: Derrick's explosiveness at the point guard position, which is very hard to find, [and] Michael's ability to create double teams. The game's easy for him. He can score the ball with both hands around the basket.'"
