But while basketball was his ticket out, there is no doubt he sees movies as a ticket to somewhere else — not just as a cinephile but as also as a producer and, even more surprising, as a critic. Like the Warriors themselves Mr. Davis might have a chance of making a move this season. A two-time N.B.A. All-Star, Mr. Davis has quietly been moonlighting as a producer since 2005, when he and a high school buddy — Cash Warren, perhaps better known as Jessica Alba's fiancé — formed a production company called Verso Entertainment.”
