In the MEMPHIS COMMERCIAL APPEAL, Marlon W. Morgan writes "having grown up in Baltimore, Rudy Gay has known Kevin Durant, who hails from the Washington, D.C., area, for years. They've even played on the same summer-league teams. Over time, Gay became a big brother-type to Durant, much like Carmelo Anthony was to Gay. After Gay, 21, left for the University of Connecticut, and eventually for the NBA's Grizzlies, he wanted to make sure he would always be there for the younger Durant."
