In the ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION, Sekou Smith writes, "It didn't take long for the Hawks' rookies to get warmed up during Friday night's season opening win over Dallas. Al Horford started at center, and Acie Law IV entered the game to a rousing ovation with 8:43 to play in the first quarter. Both had what looked like their own cheering sections in the Philips Arena stands, Horford's complete with a crew of people waiving flags from his homeland (Dominican Republic). Hawks coach Mike Woodson said before the game that his rookies' readiness for their first taste of NBA regular season action was the last of his worries. "They were good," Woodson said in the understatement of the night. "They were real good. I like them." Horford finished with nine points and 10 rebounds and Law with eight points and three assist. Both were plagued by foul trouble the entire night."
