Nobel-winning Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa is to tread the boards next week in the premier of his latest work in Spain. He said his play was inspired by 14-century Italian writer Giovanni Boccaccio & #039;s prose masterpiece, but much shorter. The auditorium of Madrid & #039;s old opera house the Teatro Real has also been adapted, so the play can be performed in the round. Vargas Llosa is best known in the English-speak ing world for novels such as & quot;The Time of the Hero & quot; and & quot;The War of the End of the World & quot;.
