Ailing Oden Likely to Skip U.S. Training Camp

2007/07/29 19:58:10 @NBA.com: News

Kerry Eggers of the PORTLAND TRIBUNE writes, "The terms of Pritchard's recent free-agent signings of Steve Blake and Travis Outlaw — both two years, with a team option for a third season — were by design. Pritchard's desire is to be in position to clear the books of as many contracts as possible after the 2008-09 season. Portland's payroll for 2007-08 is about $74 million, a figure that will dip slightly when Steve Francis signs with another team. The Blazers bought out the remaining two years and $33.62 million of Francis' contract for just under $30 million, but the club gets back half of what Francis signs for the next two seasons."
