Some of Mandarin pop music & #039;s biggest stars gathered in Taiwan for the Golden Melody Awards on Saturday, with Malaysian singer-producer Penny Tai and Singapore & #039;s JJ Lam taking top honours. Tai beat Singaporean Tanya Chua, who has a record three titles in the category, as well as Hong Kong & #039;s Denise Ho and Taiwan & #039;s Faith Yang and Jia Jia. & quot;I want to thank my parents for giving me musical talents... I want to thank my fans. & quot; He saw off veteran Hong Kong singer Wakin Chau, Taiwan & #039;s aboriginal musician Chang Chen-yue and rapper Soft Lipa, as well as China & #039;s Li Ronghao. Veteran Taiwanese producer and singer Jonathan Lee, dubbed Taiwan & #039;s pop music godfather, took the awards for best song of the year and best lyricist.
