In NEWSDAY, Ken Berger writes “Ron Artest of the Kings joined Theo Ratliff (Celtics), Maurice Evans (Lakers), and Etan Thomas (Wizards) to distribute 11 million pounds of rice to at least 1 million needy residents in three impoverished villages on the outskirts of Nairobi. They were accompanied by ‘Feed the Children' co-founders Larry and Frances Jones and Billy Hunter, president of the NBA Players Association, which paid $3 million to have the rice shipped from Taiwan.”
