The career of ‘Dr. Jack' – so nicknamed because of the doctorate in education he earned in 1949 – spans more than six decades as a player at Saint Joseph's in Philadelphia, a coach at his alma mater and for four NBA teams, an NBA general manager and now as an ESPN basketball analyst. ‘He's like a founding father,' San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich says of the Hall of Famer, who led Portland's Blazermania to an NBA championship 30 years ago Tuesday.”
